Fruity Bourbon Cocktail
I was never really a bourbon girl. I liked vodka and rum because you could mix them with something sweet like in this Rum Punch Recipe or this Pineapple Upside Down Cake Cocktail. Both are easy to consume and are sweet enough for my girly palate.
I was at a friends house one night and it seemed everyone was drinking bourbon on ice and it looked so good. It looked rustic and sophisticated and it looked like something I should do too. Once I got past the first couple of sips it wasn’t that bad, unfortunately, I had too many “first sips”, so that night ended prematurely. However, the experience left me wanting to give bourbon a real fighting chance.
Eventually, I went on to try bourbon in a Pineapple Bourbon Punch (amazing) and then this Peachy Bourbon Slush Punch (addicting) and I realized bourbon makes one hell of a mixer!
Strawberry Bourbon Cocktail
This bourbon cocktail is inspired by a recent trip to Columbia, SC. My husband and I had the opportunity to attend get away for a weekend to eat and drink our way through Columbia. The whole thing was wonderful, but the bourbon cocktails I had at one particular restaurant were spectacular. It was one of those cocktails where you can feel fine after drinking two, but that third cocktail packs a punch.
This is such a simple cocktail. You do have to make a little simple syrup, but it will be worth it. Simple syrup is equal parts sugar and water that is simmered until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is reduced until it is thick, You can flavor your syrup with almost anything. In this case, I used fresh strawberries. Once the mixture reduces, strain out your berries and you are ready to go!
Combine bourbon, simple syrup and lemonade then sip away and enjoy!
Strawberry Lemonade Bourbon Cocktail

Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon
- 2 oz strawberry simple syrup
- Lemonade
Instructions
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine syrup and bourbon. Pour mixture in a glass filled with ice and top with lemonade.
Notes
To make simple syrup, combine equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan, bring to a boil so the sugar dissolves. Add chopped strawberries (half of the amount you used for the sugar and water) and continue to boil on medium-low until mixture is thick and syrupy. Strain out strawberries and allow syrup to cool

I love bourbon and whiskey! One year I made the best mint julep I’d ever had, not that I have had many, but it was memorable! This drink you just shared is a definite I’m going to try it sooner than later! I was born and raised in Aiken, SC, about an hour from Columbia!
