How To Make This Strawberry Key Moscow Mule Cocktail
This Moscow mule is very easy and it doesn’t require many ingredients. Once you have your simple syrup made, you are ready to go!
To make simple syrup, place one cup of water and one cup of sugar in a saucepan, Bring to a boil, reduce heat and add chopped fresh strawberries. Allow the mixture to thicken and reduce by about half.
Strain the mixture, pressing lightly on the strawberries so that they release their juices. Allow the syrup to cool completely.
Simple syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to a month if stored in an airtight container.
To assemble your Moscow mule, place the simple syrup in a copper mug. Add key lime juice, vodka, and ice. Top your cocktail with ginger beer. Garnish with strawberries and lime slices!
Recipe Tips
You can play around with the vodka; there are so many flavored vodkas that can be used in the recipe.
Add a splash of rum for a more potent cocktail.
I used bottled key lime juice, but fresh is fine. You can also use regular limes or even lemons.
Purchased simple syrup will work, but homemade will taste better!
Why Are Moscow Mules Served In Copper Mugs?
Cold copper seems to intensify the fizziness of the carbonation in ginger beer, making for a refreshing and fragrant cocktail. Many Moscow-mule drinkers also say that the copper cup enhances all the flavors from vodka to lime.
Another reason Moscow Mules are served in copper mugs is the cold metal insulates the temperature of the chilled ginger beer, keeping the cocktail cool and delicious!
If you don’t own copper mugs, no worries. Don’t feel like you cannot enjoy a mule without the mugs; a chilled glass will work just fine! But it is FUN drinking out of those fancy mugs!
