Mongolian Beef is a classic Asian style beef recipe!
Make this quick and easy version any time you are craving this classic dish!
This Mongolian beef recipe is going have staying power in this household. See, each summer the kids and I make elaborate plans on how we are going to pick random countries and make meals from those countries. Our plan usually starts well enough. Someone makes crepes, a Mexican dish likes these Salmon Fish Tacos or an Italian style pasta recipe like this Pasta Primavera Recipe. Then we get busy and before we know it I am once again doing all the cooking and I am not bothering to choose any special country. By the time school starts, we’ve forgotten all about our grand cooking plans.
Watch How To Make Mongolian Beef:
I love the idea of having the kids cook and I love that they want to try new flavors, but selfishly, it is more than I want to deal with. Somehow, the kids choose the most elaborate recipe which uses exotic ingredients that I’ll never use again. Undoubtedly, whoever is cooking gets bored halfway through the cook time or their friends come play and I am left doing all the work. I want to get my kids involved in cooking and I want them to appreciate different cultures and different food; I just want to have control over it. We need easy recipes and fewer ingredients!
This Mongolian Beef recipe is perfect for the kids to make. This version I’m sharing with you today starts with a jarred P.F. Chang’s® Home Menu Mongolian Style BBQ Sauce I found at my local Kroger store (in the Asian foods section). This sauce makes this meal so easy. All that you need is the sauce, beef, mushrooms, garlic and green onions. The prep takes minutes and the cook time takes only slightly longer. I love that this sauce has all the flavor and seasonings that I need to complete this easy dish, and when time is of the essence, this meal cannot be beaten. Plus, with a little help, my kids can assist with the cooking!
I love the tangy taste to this sauce and after cooking it becomes thick and silky. The sauce richly coats the beef and the mushrooms. Drape the beef over rice and you have the perfect Mongolian beef at home. This recipe makes everyone happy. The kids get to help, it is easy and quick, the ingredient list is short and it takes so little time to prepare; the kids won’t have a chance to get bored! Not to mention how good this Mongolian beef tastes! This tells me that all I have to do is find more sauces like this and the kids can cook any time they want! I rarely pour myself a glass of wine while cooking, but that might be about to change. I can have a glass of wine, supervise the kids, sit back and relax. Yes, I think I’m on to something here.
