Lean turkey brats are smothered in a pineapple teriyaki topping!
These brats are the perfect blend of spicy and sweet!
I’m not ashamed to admit that I have lied to my kids. I have lied to them about bedtime, snacks, game rules, zoo times, play dates, the status of leftover cake and probably a whole list of things I have pushed into the recesses of my guiltless mind. All this excludes the fact that I still lie to my kids about the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause, and the Easter Bunny. My mom told me fibs when I was young, and my kids will fib to their kids. It’s just the natural order of things.
I tried to lie to the kids about these pineapple teriyaki brats. If these Honeysuckle White Turkey Brats only had one topping than I would not have had a need for deceit. But after piling on the fresh, sweet pineapple, the spicy peppers, salty bacon and tangy homemade teriyaki sauce, I knew that there was no way I could share these brats. I would have to think up a lie about why there weren’t any brats left for them.
Those turkey brats are tender and perfectly seasoned, plus they grill up quickly! The mild flavor of the brats are like a plain white canvas, you can top them with anything! I love the Hawaiian flavors in this topping combination. Pineapple, bacon, and jalapenos frequently partnered together and the sauce brings them all together.
You could use a store bought Teriyaki sauce, but this homemade version is so easy. This recipe makes just enough to drizzle over the brats, but I would consider doubling or tripling the sauce to use for turkey burgers, chicken wings or as a dipping sauce for sushi. And after you try these pineapple teriyaki turkey brats, try this Easy Turkey Posole or this Skillet Turkey Tetrazzini!
