Edible cookie dough makes a regular appearance in my household. It is easy to make and I always have the ingredients in my kitchen (I would bet you do too).
My girls make individual bowls of edible cookie dough on the nights I don’t have dessert handy. It always satisfies their sweet tooth!
I decided since everyone loves edible cookie dough so much, I would make fun little truffles that the whole family could enjoy!
What Is Edible Cookie Dough?
Edible cookie dough takes everything you love about making chocolate chip cookie batter but without using any eggs! Eating raw eggs can cause food poisoning as they can contain harmful bacteria.
What Is Funfetti?
Funfetti is a fancy word combination that brings together fun AND sprinkles! I recently made Funfetti cheesecake cake and butter cookies; both are great ways to enjoy the Funfetti flavor!
How To Make Edible Cookie Dough Truffles?
The first step in the recipe is an important one, you have to “bake” the flour. Heating your flour to a certain temperature will kill any bacteria. Since this recipe uses quite a bit, I would not skip this step.
If you are making a little bowl of edible cookie dough for one, you could possibly skip this step. You can also bake extra flour to keep handy any time the craving strikes!
To preheat your flavor, heat your oven to 355 degrees, Arrange 2 cups of flour on a baking sheet in an even layer.
Heat flour for about 7 minutes (flour may appear slightly toasted). Allow the flour to cool completely before using. Store unused flour in an airtight container.
Now you are ready to make edible cookie dough!
STEP ONE -Cream butter and brown sugar together in a large bowl until the mixture are light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla. Gradually add flour, alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Stir in white chocolate chips and sprinkles
STEP TWO – Shape the cookie dough into 1-in. balls; place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Loosely cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until firm.
STEP THREE – Place candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals until melted. Dip each ball into melted coating; allowing excess to drip off. Place the truffles on waxed paper-lined baking sheets.
STEP FOUR – Refrigerate the cookie dough truffles until firm, about 15 minutes.
How Long Do These Cookie Dough Truffles Last In The Fridge?
This cookie dough will last in the fridge for up to one week. The cookie dough CAN be left out, however, the cookie dough will become soft. I personally prefer the soft cookie dough. Refrigerating the truffles makes the candy harder.
Can I Freeze Edible Cookie Dough Truffles?
These cookie dough truffles freeze beautifully! To freeze these candies, allow the chocolate to set completely.
Layer the cookie dough balls between sheets of wax paper in an airtight container. Cookie dough truffles can be frozen for up to 3 months.
Recipe Tips
- It is worth repeating, it is safest to heat the flour before using it to avoid consuming bacteria.
- These cookie dough truffles are quite sweet, you can omit the white chocolate chips if you prefer.
- Allow the cookie dough truffles to set before dipping in chocolate.
- I chose white chocolate candy melts but dark chocolate candy melts are fine.
- Garnish these truffles with a swirl of chocolate or additional sprinkles if desired.
