Crisp arugula is the base for this flavor BLT salad! All the classic BLT ingredients are presented alongside a creamy, dilly dressing. This is the kind of salad this is satisfying all on its own!
I don’t know about you, but anytime I leave home for a period of time, the first thing I want to eat when I get home is a big salad. This is when I crave greens and veggies the most!
Despite having the best intentions, traveling usually leads to irregular eating habits and indulgences I don’t normally have at home. Coming home from any trip requires a much needed cleanse!
This BLT salad isn’t necessarily loaded with veggies or light on calories, but it has lots of fresh greens and a simple, protein-packed dressing that flavors this salad beautifully!
What Is A BLT Salad?
This salad combines all the classic blt sandwich ingredients (minus the bread) in one, big bowl. With such few ingredients, this salad is very easy to make and comes together in no time at all.
How Do You Make This BLT Salad?
Arrange arugula in a large bowl or serving platter.
Top greens with halved cherry tomatoes and cooked bacon.
Arugula can be too strong of a flavor for some people. If you are not a fan of arugula, no worries, romaine lettuce (or your favorite lettuce) is a fine substitute.
Arugula works well in this recipe because it can hold up to the thick dressing. But I don’t want a distaste for arugula to stop you from trying this salad!
I chose to use cherry tomatoes, which I halved. Colored cherry tomatoes or even diced Roma tomatoes work well in this recipe.
Feel free to use turkey bacon in this recipe. Just make sure you drain your bacon.
How Do I Make BLT Salad Dressing?
This dressing is creamy and only takes a little whisking!
For this recipe, I whisk together mayo, plain Greek yogurt, vinegar, heavy cream, garlic, fresh dill, and salt and pepper to taste.
You can use sour cream in place of the yogurt if you want a little less “tang” in your dressing.
I used white vinegar, but cider vinegar works too.
Try your hardest to use fresh dill in this recipe, it really adds so much flavor!
A touch of lemon juice will add a fresh and bright flavor to the dressing!
I did not add bread cubes to this recipe, but feel free to add them bite-sized bread croutons little “crunch”!
What To Serve With This BLT Salad?
You can serve this salad next to anything! Try serving this salad with Bologna Sandwich, Balsamic Chicken, Grilled Tilapia or Pork Cutlets!
