Soft, chewy Nutella Cookies have a surprise center…Milk Duds! The unlikely duo tastes so amazing together, you may find yourself making these cookies on a weekly basis!
If you love Nutella as much as I do then I am confident you will love these cookies! They are easy and they have a unique but totally addicting flavor!
This is a great way to use up leftover candy (think holidays like Halloween) or to bake up just because! These Milk Dud Nutella Cookies are one of my favorite uses for Nutella (and Milk Duds) and I’m sure it’s not hard to see why.
What Are Milk Dud Stuffed Nutella Cookies?
Exactly as the name implies these Nutella cookies are delicious cookies similar to peanut butter ones but made with Nutella so you get a taste of chocolate and hazelnut in every bite. The center is a delicious filling of gooey chewy caramel made from a melted Milk Dud.
These cookies use quite a bit of Nutella, (that isn’t a problem, is it?), but the recipe is pretty straightforward. The only thing to consider when making these cookies is time. You will need about an hour to chill the dough, but after that, it is smooth sailing!
Ingredients
- Butter – Make sure your butter is soft before you begin baking. Your butter is ready when your finger leaves a slight indentation
- Nutella Hazelnut Spread
- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar
- Eggs
- All-purpose flour
- Baking soda
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Milk Duds candies
For exact measurements, please see the recipe card below.
How To Make Stuffed Nutella Cookies
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, Nutella, and sugars. Beat until creamy. Add in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter until well combined. Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour.
- When you are ready, preheat the oven to 35o degrees. The batter might need to come closer to room temperature if it is too hard to work with, however, do not let it get too soft!
- For each cookie, gather about a tablespoon of dough. Wrap dough around one Milk Dud, roll into a ball and roll in granulated sugar before placing on an ungreased baking sheet.
The cookies will take about 8 minutes to bake. Once out of the oven, let them stand on the hot baking sheet for 5 minutes. This will allow the centers to set. After 5 minutes, remove the cookies to a cooling rack.
Recipe Tips
- If you aren’t sold on using Milk Duds, these cookies are great when filled with almost any candies! Rolos and Snickers are really good options.
- Feel free to leave out the center and fold in chopped chocolate, chopped caramels, chopped hazelnuts or bake them without any filling at all!
- It is important to allow the cookies to cool ON the baking sheet before moving them to a cooling rack. The cookies are thin and chewy and will come apart easily if moved while still hot!
FAQs
Can You Freeze Nutella Cookies?
Yes, you can. Make sure the cookies have cooled completely, then store them in layers in an airtight container. Allow the cookies to come to room temperature before consuming to allow the caramel center to soften.
How To Store Milk Dud Nutella Cookies
I like to store these cookies in layers in an airtight container. Make sure you keep parchment paper between each layer to prevent the cookies from breaking or from the caramel centers from sticking to one another.
Looking for more tasty ways to use Nutella? I put it on my toast, put it in crepes, on pancakes, and use it as a dip for fruit.
I will also swirl Nutella into my Pumpkin Bars, skillet brownies, no-bake pies, granola bars, Cinnamon Rolls, Banana Nut Muffins, and fudge.

Aren’t the milk duds hard after they’re. Not warm anymore? I would think the cookies might be too hard from some people to bite into or chew. Please, any comments will be appreciated.
